Council Members

The Village of Burk’s Falls Municipally Elected Council is comprised of five members which includes a Mayor, a Deputy Mayor, and three Councillors. Each Council member is responsible for a specific department within the municipal organization, such as roads/buildings, water/waste water, planning and health care.


Village Council meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month in Council Chambers, located at 136 Yonge Street, beginning at 6:00pm.  Meetings of Council are open to the public. If you wish to attend virtually a Zoom link to observe the Council meeting is available upon request to the CAO-Clerk. The link provided shall not be transferred or shared with anyone else. Members and the public or other stakeholders attending electronically shall ensure their device’s name on the screen represents their true identity or organization.

Those looking to address Council are required to complete the Delegation Form and submit it to the  CAO-Clerk by email or the Municipal office no later than the Thursday prior to the regularly scheduled meeting.


Agendas are posted the Friday prior to the regular meeting no later than 5:00pm on the municipal website under agendas and minutes. Agendas are also posted on the municipal office door at 172 Ontario Street. Historical Council meeting minutes are posted one month after such meeting. Minutes are adopted during the next regular meeting of Council.

Role of Council

In accordance with Section 224 of the Municipal Act, 2001, it is the role of council to:


  • represent the public and to consider the well-being and interests of the municipality;
  • develop and evaluate the policies and programs of the municipality;
  • determine which services the municipality provides;
  • ensure that administrative policies, practices and procedures and controllership policies, practices and procedures are in place to implement the decisions of council;
  • ensure the accountability and transparency of the operations of the municipality, including the activities of the senior management of the municipality;
  • maintain the financial integrity of the municipality; and
  • carry out the duties of council under this or any other Act.
