Recreation Programs
At the Village of Burk's Falls, we believe in fostering a vibrant, active, and connected community. Our Recreation Programs are designed to give residents of all ages opportunities to stay active, develop new skills, and build lasting friendships. Each program supports physical health, creativity, teamwork, and leadership—while keeping fun at the heart of everything we do.
Our community offers a wide range of recreational activities to suit every interest and ability. These programs are more than just a way to stay busy; they build confidence, encourage personal growth, and create memories that last a lifetime.
The Village of Burk’s Falls Recreation Advisory Committee works hard year-round to plan, organize, and support these offerings. All programs are volunteer-led, and we are grateful for the dedication and enthusiasm that make them possible.
If you have any questions or would like to get involved, please contact us at recreation@burksfalls.ca or 705-382-3138 ext. 231.

Learn to Skate Returns This Fall!
True Beginners
2:00 pm to 2:45 pm
True Beginners is for anyone learning to skate who cannot yet get themselves back up after falling and/or cannot move independently around the ice.
Each True Beginner must have a support skater on the ice with them. The support skater does not need to be a parent or relative. They must simply be able to skate confidently, help the participant get back up when needed and assist them while they practise the skills being taught.
Basic Skaters & Skill Builders
2:55 pm to 3:40 pm
Basic Skaters and Skill Builders will share the second ice time. Coaches will divide participants into groups based on their current skating ability.
Basic Skaters
This level is for skaters who can get themselves back up after falling and move independently around the ice, but are still developing basic skating skills.
Instruction may include skills such as stopping, skating backwards, balance and control.
Skill Builders
This level is for skaters who have developed the basic skills and are ready to begin improving their technique, control and overall skating ability.
Participants will build on the skills they already have while working toward stronger and more confident skating.
Parents and guardians do not choose between Basic Skaters and Skill Builders when registering. Coaches will determine the most appropriate group for each participant.

The Village of Burk’s Falls is always looking for enthusiastic and community-minded individuals to support our recreation programs and events. Volunteers play an important role in creating positive experiences for participants and helping programs run smoothly.
Opportunities are available throughout the year, including assisting with seasonal programs, community events, and youth activities.
For our Summer Recreation Programs, volunteer coaches and assistants are eligible to receive a 50% discount for one registrant, as a thank you for their time and commitment.
Whether you are looking to give back to the community, gain experience, or support local recreation, we welcome you to get involved.
Join us in building strong, active, and connected community programs in Burk’s Falls.
