Welcome Centre

“Where everybody is a somebody.”

The Village of Burk’s Falls is a vibrant and thriving community of 981 residents, offering a great quality of life and lifestyle. The Village is situated 30 minutes north of Huntsville and just shy of 3 hours north of Toronto. The Village thrives on a strong sense of community engagement and support, offering residents a sense of small community living while providing the amenities expected from larger towns.

Residing within the Village creates the much-desired small-town feeling, where neighbours know neighbours, children play together, and residents support each other. The Village has experienced an increase in housing sales, indicating people from neighbouring communities are seeking to establish new residence within the Village, where the bountiful natural scenery combined with necessary services offer an all-encompassing place to live and thrive.

The Village of Burk’s Falls in partnership with community groups, organizations and surrounding municipalities, provides year-round entertainment and family friendly events, no matter the season we have you covered. From Canada Day Celebrations, Fall Fairs with Heavy Horse Shows, fishing derbies, Winterfest, snowmobile and dog sled races and many more recreational and social events in our communities.

The Burk’s Falls Welcome Centre

The Burk’s Falls Welcome Centre located at 170 Ryerson Crescent (Hwy 520), also serves as the Almaguin Highlands tourist information Centre. The Centre is a great place take a break from driving or while out walking the Village as it is also home to a local proprietor, Pulled Smokehouse & Welcome Centre Canteen, offering delicious foods with a variety of cold and hot beverages.

Within the Welcome Centre visitors will find information on various local attractions, events and community groups, all of which can be enjoyed while visiting or living in the area.  Take a moment to pickup a Heritage River Walk Trail MapChamber of Commerce Almaguin Highlands Magazine or any other the pamphlets and flyers to learn more about the community.

With ample seating on a deck that over looks the Magnetawan River and the Burk's Falls Hydro Electric Dam, the Centre is a great place to sit back and relax, taking in the beautiful scenery of the Village. If you're feeling adventurous take a stroll along the Heritage River Trails where one of many trails will take you along the curves of the Magnetawan Rivers edge. If your looking to explore more of the community why not participate in the Villages Bike Share Program and cycle the communities marked cycling loops. The Bike Share program has two locations within the Village, one of which is the Welcome Centre where new and gently used bikes are loaned out along with helmets, allowing for an afternoon of cycling the Highlands.

As the Welcome Centre is ideally located along the Magnetawan River, the public boat launch and docks are just a short walk west of the Centre. The docks and boat launch, available to the public, provide access to the fast flowing waters of the Magnetawan River for watercraft and anglers alike. As the river flows swiftly this is not a recommended swimming location. The Village recommends visitors utilize one of the many public beaches in the area for swimming.

Within the parking lot of the Centre is a public water tap with municipally serviced and tested water. This water tap is open from the May long weekend till September, weather dependent. The Villages asks users to be mindful of consumption as the tap is solely funded by water/waste water ratepayers of the Village.

If you have an event or service you would like to make the community aware of, contact the Welcome Centre on their Facebook page or by calling 1.705.783.9095
