Living in such a beautiful and natural landscape leads one wanting to explore just what this area has to offer. Whether your looking to explore on foot, snowmobile, A.T.V or on a bike, the Village has an extensive trail system which connects to an even larger trail system. With the right navigation one can start out their journey in the Village and travel to the west arriving in Parry Sound, or to the east into Algonquin Park.
Heritage River Walk
An adventure on foot can begin on the Heritage River Walk as it is centrally located within the Village and accessible from two access points. Begin your adventure either at the Welcome Centre entrance just at the Covered Heritage footbridge or at the Recreation Fields entrance to the rear of the ball diamonds. Choose from one of the numerous trails that wind their way through the natural bush lot.

Almaguin Highlands Community Trails
The Almaguin District Snowmobile Club maintains a vast trail system covering the Almaguin Highlands Area. Trails cover scenic tree-lined trails and frozen lakes all with breath taking views of snow-clad hills and valleys.
Trail #305 and #306 provide access to the Village of Burk’s Falls where you’ll find hot food, cool beverages and gas to fuel another trail ride. Located at 220 Centre Street, the Village provides riders with a staging area for vehicles, trailers and sleds. With ample parking, easy access to the trail system, local eateries, shops and fuel stations, this is the ideal spot to load and unload with plenty of space.

With over 3200kms of trails, the Algonquin West ATV Club maintains a trail system from Halliburton to South River. As an associate club to Halliburton, members have access to a trail system connecting tourist destinations with communities. Here are some other links to ATV trails in the Parry Sound.
Ice Ribbon Skating Path (South River)
The Ice Ribbon Skating Path is located in the Village of South River, Ontario at Tom Thomson Park approximately 20 minutes north off of Highway 11. The ice trail is maintained by volunteers with a donation box located at the entrance, donations provided much needed financial assistance to ensure the Ribbon is maintained.
