NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING
PROPOSED OFFICIAL PLAN AMENDMENT NUMBER 2
Notice is hereby given that
the Council of the Village of Burk’s Falls will hold a public meeting,
pursuant to Section 17(15) of the Planning Act R.S.O. 1990, as amended,
to consider proposed Amendment Number 2 to the Official Plan on:
Tuesday, October 28, 2003
at 3:00p.m. to 5:00p.m.

The purpose of Amendment
Number 2 is to recognize the location of a Groundwater Protection Area
(GPZ) in the planning area and to establish appropriate planning policies
to protect the groundwater
resource as the water supply for the Village of Burk’s Falls and other
users.
The Effect of Amendment Number
2 would be to delineate the Groundwater Protection Areas (GPZ 1
and GPZ 2, collectively - GPZ) within schedules in the Official Plan and
to designate these lands as
having special characteristics which may limit their capacity for
development and/or require
environmentally sensitive practices to be instituted. Certain types of
land uses whose activities have the
potential to adversely impact on groundwater resources shall be
restricted. Permitted uses within the
GPZ may require the preparation of an Environmental Management System
(EMS) which details the
practices to protect against accidental spills and inappropriate disposal
of hazardous waste. Additional
restrictions may be established within the GPZ on the use of underground
fuel storage tanks and the use
of fertilizer and pesticides.

A copy of the proposed Amendment Number 2 to the Official Plan of the
Village of Burk’s Falls along
with background materials will be available to the public 21 days prior to
the public meeting at the
Municipal Office, 172 Ontario Street, Burk’s Falls. If you wish to be
notified about the adoption of the
proposed Official Plan Amendment Number 2, you must make a written request

Note: If a person or pubic body that files a notice of appeal of a
decision of the Council of the Village of
Burk’s Falls in respect to the proposed official plan amendment does not
make oral submissions at a
public meeting, or make written submission to the Council before the
proposed official plan amendment
is adopted, the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) may dismiss all or part of
the appeal. Written
submissions must be provided to the Municipal Clerk by Tuesday, 28
October, 2003.
