NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING

TAKE NOTICE THAT the Council of the Village of Burk’s Falls is holding a Public Meeting with regard to the adoption of a new Official Plan for the Village of Burk’s Falls on Tuesday June 22, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers in accordance with Section 17 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990 as amended.

PURPOSE OF OFFICIAL PLAN

The Official Plan, upon approval, serves to manage land uses and direct future growth to ensure the development of a healthy and sustainable community for the present and future residents of the Village. This Official Plan will guide Council in their review of land use planning issues. This includes proposals such as official plan and zoning by-law amendments, subdivision development, capital works projects, site plan agreements, development agreements and redevelopment. This Official Plan implements the requirements of the Planning Act, as amended and the provisions of the Provincial Policy Statement.

REPRESENTATION

ANY PERSON may attend the public meeting and/or make written or verbal presentation either in support of or in opposition to the new Official Plan. If you are unable to attend the meeting, written submissions will be received up to the time of the public meeting. If you wish to be notified of the adoption of the new official plan, you must make a written request to the Village of Burk’s Falls.

IN THE EVENT that a person or public body files an appeal of a decision of the Minister of Municipal Affairs (as the approval authority) in respect to the new Official Plan and does not make an oral or written submission to the Village prior to the Official Plan being adopted, the Ontario Municipal Board may dismiss the appeal.

INFORMATION

The revised Official Plan is available on the Village of Burk’s Falls website at www.burksfalls.net or can be viewed in the Municipal Offices at 172 Ontario Street, Burk’s Falls.

Once adopted by Council, the new Official Plan will be submitted to the Ministry
of Municipal Affairs and Housing for approval.
