Wiseman's Corner Schoolhouse
112 Midlothian Road, Ryerson Township
The Wiseman's Corner Schoolhouse was opened in 1997 and is dedicated to the pioneers who first settled in this area. Located at Wiseman's Corner, the building is that of the original schoolhouse, S.S. #4 Ryerson. The school was built in 1893 and carried on successfully for about 45 years. The land consists of a half acre and was purchased in 1892 for $1.63. That sum included 63 feet of lumber.
Open Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon to 4:00 pm until
Schoolhouse will be closed following Thanksgiving until Spring 2016.
Watt Century Farm House Heritage Centre
827 Chetwynd Road, Armour Township
On February 23, 1881, John Russell Watt married Mary Marshall. They lived on Lots 10 and 11 Con. 7 and had 3 children. In 1889 the Watt family moved to Lot 13 Con. 6 and 7 and four more children were born. In 1892 a barn was built followed by a home in 1902. Mary died in 1931 and John in 1946. After the passing of Mary and John, son Jack took over the farm. Jack married Pearl Jordon in 1937 and they had 3 children – Richard “Dick”, William “Bill” and Karen. Jack died in 1973 and Pearl in 2008. Northland Power purchased the property for the company’s Solar East farm and is leasing the property for 21 years less a day to the Burk’s Falls and District Historical Society
