THE VILLAGE OF BURK’S FALLS

SPECIAL MEETING OF COUNCIL MINUTES

A special meeting of the Burk’s Falls Council was called to order at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2011.

Present were Reeve Cathy Still, Councillors; Bruce Campbell, Rex Smith, Lisa Morrison and Lewis Hodgson. No one on Council declared pecuniary or conflict at that time.


1. DELEGATIONS TO SEE COUNCIL:
1. Valerie Cramner: OPA Report & Draft of General Standards By-law- Ms. Cramner reviewed her report with Council. She expressed if there was any concerns or questions regarding the report to please feel free to ask her. She went on to explain the process and steps that will follow her report. After consultation with the MMAH they will comment if any modifications are required and then Council can adopt the OPA. Valerie feels that the development meets with our recent Official Plan and does not see any reasons not to adopt it. She also stated in her report that an updated site plan and site plan agreement would be necessary. Valerie thanked Council and expressed if they had any questions to please give her a call. Valerie’s report is available at the Village Office, copies are provided upon request.

The Council for the Village of Burk’s Falls designates the Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) as the Operating Authority for the Burk’s Falls Drinking Water System pursuant to the Ontario Safe Drinking Water Act.

The Council for the Village of Burk’s Falls give $ 250.00 in gift certificates to Jarvis Osborne in appreciation of his continued support to Council and Staff.

We do now adjourn at 19:30 until the next regular meeting scheduled on November 22, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.

Items of Discussion:
A. Shared Joint Services Questions-Council discussed the questions presented at the Tri-Committee Meeting and will present their answers at the next
Tri-Committee meeting.
B. Public Washrooms Open for Remembrance Day Ceremonies & Santa Claus Parade-Council decided that it would be a good idea to have the public washrooms open for these two events. Councillor Campbell volunteered to open and close them for each event.
C. Pay Equity-Council discussed a recent letter sent by the CEO from the Library and will be reviewing Pay Equity in 2012.
D. OPP Water Line-Council discussed correspondence and pictures sent for their review. Upon Councils request, Councillor Campbell will be pursuing in getting the “As Built Drawings” for the site. The water line will not be turned on until the drawings are presented and Council is satisfied with the water line hookup.
