MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF BURK'S FALLS COUNCIL

The regular meeting of the Burk’s Falls Council was held on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 in the Burk’s Falls Council Chambers at 7:00 p.m.

Present were Reeve Cathy Still, Councillors; Bruce Campbell, Lewis Hodgson, Lisa Morrison, Rex Smith, and Treasurer, Allan Holder.

The council minutes for November 22, 2011 meeting were approved as circulated and no errors or omissions were reported by Council. Councillor Lewis Hodgson declared a Conflict of Interest on Resolution K on the Agenda.

Delegations to Council were:
1. Diana Warriner: Playground-Ms. Warriner presented to Council a plan for a new playground located on the Health Centre grounds. She had a quote from a company that has supplied play ground equipment in other places in the area. The company required a 35% down payment before mid January with no charge for freight. Diana asked Council if they would consider putting the down payment at this time. Council has asked her to supply 2 more quotes as per the Procurement By-law in the Village of Burk’s Falls. The location on the property for the play ground and washrooms were another thing discussed. Diana will get more information and met with Council at a later time. She thanked Council for their time and looks forward in working with them.
2. Brian Darnbrough: Donation-Mr. Darnbrough presented two cheque for a donation to the Almaguin Highlands Health Centre Building from the Burk’s Falls Trappers Council. He also stated that there would be a donation coming from the Burk’s Falls Jamboree and the Jamboree will be hosted again this year on Aug10, 2012. Council thanked Brian and the Burk’s Falls Trappers Council for their generous donation.

A. Pete the Bear-Council discussed the wood carving and installation will be in the spring.
B. Health Centre Maintenance-Council reviewed maintenance considered necessary and a
generator being needed at the Medical Centre. A weekly check of the buildings and property
will be completed.
C. Surplus in Reserve-Council discussed and decided to continue to put surplus into reserves.
D. Water Line (Shillolo-Armour Line)-Council discussed waterline, but will need to consult with
the Village Foreman to confirm the location of water lines.
E. General Standards By-law-Council discussed and reviewed changes to the By-law and gave
notice of decision to amend it to allow mixed use buildings and setbacks added to the table.
